I had the good fortune to lead the first ride-out of the season on the 8th April 2018.
Being the first ride off the year and the weather so unpredictable I wasn’t sure if anyone would turn out but to my surprise Ashley, Rob, Graham and Tom turned out.
We meet at what was the Wagon (now some fancy fish restaurant) near Ponteland where we set off down to join the B6318 the military road. It’s a lovely scenic road running alongside Hadrian’s wall but the hard winter has taken its toll leaving the road full off pot holes and gravel so progress was steady.
We followed the road all the way to Langholm then continued to the Samye Ling Monastery for a photo and tea stop.
From here we headed Northwest to Moffat where we stopped for fuel then lunch at the very biker friendly Buccleuch Arms Hotel. This is a great hotel with bike sheds and secure bike parking owned and run by bikers.
Following lunch we headed up to St Mary’s Loch, a quick photo stop as the cafe was shut then on to Denholm where he stopped at the Fox and Hounds for tea and biscuits be for heading South home. We were lucky the weather was kind to us and we only lost Ashley once lol. with a distance off 264 miles.
